November 13, 2016:
Tom Hiddleston returned to the Evening Standard Theatre Awards to present his friend, mentor, co-star, director (insert 33842837298 more adjectives) Sir Kenneth Branagh with the prestigious Lebedev Award for his season of plays at the Garrick. In his introduction of Kenneth Tom said "beg, borrow, and steal for a chance to work with this man".
Tom skipped the red carpet but he posed for pictures inside the event.
Does it look like Tom and Ken are hiding a secret? Probably because they were already in the planning stages of RADA Hamlet but it would be another 9 months before the play was announced.
I think they let Elton John in on the secret too.
Tom was also reunited with his The Night Manager co-stars, Tom Hollander and Elizabeth Debicki. At the time Elizabeth was performing in The Red Barn at the Lyttelton Theatre in London.
This was Tom's first time back at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards after winning Best Actor for Coriolanus in 2014.
Fashion:
There was one memorable addition to his Evening Standard Theatre Awards outfit, a Remembrance Poppy. The poppy symbol was inspired by the World World I poem In Flanders Field and is used to commemorate military personal who have died in conflict. Tom shares a name with his great-great uncle, Tom Hiddleston, who died fighting in the battle of Somme. This event was held on Remembrance Sunday in the UK.
Gunner Tom Hiddleston, was shot August 27. 1916 at the Battle of Somme and died two weeks later from infection.
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
