Last month MAC launched their highly anticipated Mariah Carey collection. As a person, Mariah Carey is not someone i have any interest in, in my eyes her time has been and gone a long time ago. However when i saw the initial pictures from this collection on Instagram i knew i wanted a piece.
In the eyes of any beauty magpie a new collection from MAC is worth looking at but i was instantly sold on the glitter packaging. Anything that sparkles is an instant hit for me. The packaging is gorgeous for this whole collection but not only does the packaging contain lots of glitter so does the actual products. All of the lipsticks in this collection are either cremesheen or frost finishes, both finishes limit the glitter but are highly shimmery. Both eye shadow quads contained a foil shade but the stand out products were the Extra Dimension Skin Finish in My Mimi and the golden glitter Loose Powder called Touch my Body, both a form of highlighter, were the instant sell outs of the collection.
When i went into store on the day the collection was released they had already sold out of the loose powder (i think all of the staff had bought it) but they had a few My Mimis left. I was torn, the highlighter was beautiful and completely made for Instagram but unfortunately there was no way on this earth it was going to suit me as i am death white. The whole collection caters to a more tanned skintone with its gold hues and nude lipsticks. After a quick look at the stand i knew it was going to be one of the eye shadow quads that i took home with me.
Both palettes were very classic nude shades, one being more cool toned and one warm. As i usually buy a warm toned palette i thought i would mix it up and go for the cool toned palette called It's Everything. Plus i loved the top left champagne shimmer shade. This palette has a lovely balance of shades and keeps the eye look neutral with the option of making it a little bit smokey. I wanted the champagne shimmer shade to be like the ones in the Tom Ford Eyeshadow Quads however this one is more chunky and can look a little bit too much if you apply lots of it. The quality of these shades matches that of any other full size MAC eye shadow. They all blend together beautifully however i do have to use a different palette as well for a transition shade which this quad is lacking.
The whole Mariah Carey collection has sold out now and has been sold out for a while. Everyone seemed to go mad for this collection and it is still all over Instagram. MAC launches are always popular so it is worth keeping an eye out to see what is going to be launched. MAC does bring out new collections all the time so it is also important to pick out what you truly want, not all of the collections are this amazing but when a celebrity gets involved it is usually a hit.
