Early morning or late evening is the best hour for garden photos I imagine. But since we don't really have a "garden" per se anyway, high noon will have to do. The lilacs are fading to a paler hue and won't last long now. But what I actually want to show is the before shots of the rose bed.
There are nine established but sorely neglected rose bushes here that have always been left to climb because we felt that they were too much in the shade. Forget that they are not climbers! Some grew as tall as the house, but without giving much bloom. I wanted to show just how much we have pruned them this year in hopes they will do better. They have started to fill out, and have a few buds. Cross your fingers!
These mystery low growing plants in the rose bed had a small purple flower while it was still cold. Violets?
A crop of daylilies is peeking out in the background here. Do they ever need dividing?
I'm hoping there will, a) be some good after shots for you, and b) that we will be in town if and when it happens. For the time being, the roses on this table are the only kind appearing on the property!
Yesterday's jaunt out turned up this large ironstone pitcher. Perfect for garden bouquets.
